Be careful switching from HP plate to one of the other plates (zigzag or straight stitch). Make sure the needle is in the up position.
Note: You can use any of the three needle plates;Zigzag, Straight Stitch or HP (High Performance) with the AcuFeed Flex Feet, but, once the AcuFeed feeding system is activated (see orange button below), you’ll only be allowed to use straight stitches.
The Janome AcuFeed Flex feet are designed to feed layers moving forward, which is why, when the AcuFeed is engaged, only the straight stitches are available to use. However, I (Janome) sometimes like to use the AcuFeed Flex AD foot to stitch decorative stitches. The trick to using it with decorative stitches is to not activate the AcuFeed dual feed button (orange button below) on the LCD screen and be sure to use the Zigzag needle plate.
Info about HP2. The single (6mm) Acufeed foot uses the left side feed dogs. This foot provides a scant 1/4 seam allowance. When piecing, change the stitch length to 1.5-2.0 (the recommended stitch length for piecing is 1.8). AcuFeed Flex Professional Grade Foot (HP2) must be used with the Professional Grade Needle Plate (HP).
For a scant 1/4-inch when using foot O with guide and straight stitch needle plate. Position the foot O at 8.3mm to 8.7mm and use decorative tab -> Quilt -> 1/4″ stitch 2.
The regular straight stitch needle plate can be used for straight stitches with the left, center or right needle drop positions.
Decorative stitches: Use the Zigzag plate and do not engage the AcuFeed Flex System.
Deactivate manual Acufeed System dual feed when switching sewing feet or plates.
Decorative stitches:
To complete a decorative stitch: Whether stitching one or more of a decorative stitch pattern, after the first few stitches of a pattern, touch the Locking Stitch button and the machine will complete the decorative stitch pattern. When the machine is stopped, press the auto-lock button and the LED signal will blink. The machine will sew a locking stitch at the end of the current pattern and automatically stop when the machine is started.
Machine Operating Buttons
(1) Start/stop button: The machine runs slowly as long as this button is pressed. Pressing and holding this button while sewing will slow down the sewing speed and the machine will stop when the button is released
Or after completing a decorative stitch pattern, Touch Reverse Button. Machine will stop in place, lock off, raise the needle and cut thread (if this is previously activated, page 135).
