Rose Gazebo

Victoria Sampler design called Rose Gazebo.

Chart is for a 4.5 by 17.5 inch sampler worked on 28 count Confederate Grey Quaker Cloth fabric. I shortened the design (leaving out several bands of lettering) and worked on a 24 count pale blue Congress Canvas which produced a 6 by 16 inch worked piece.

Instructions suggested Trebizond Silk which I replaced with using two strands of white DMC Coton a Broder size 25. Instead of the suggested DMC floss and perle cotton I used Chameleon threads in rayon, stranded cotton and perle.

Threads colors I selected to use are more for fall colors than the softer summer colors within the instructions.

For the roses within the gazebo I used two (pink, rose, plum colors) 4mm silk ribbons to provide shading within the petals. Clicking the photos and viewing them in zoom nicely shows the colors of these rose buds.

I especially like the blue-greenish gray shading of the bottom Kloster blocks.

The design called to use four fresh water pearls within the top of the gazebo. Since I had not purchased a thread/accessory package for this design I had to find the supplies on my own. I kept recalling that a year or two ago I had a kit with six fresh water pearls (that I hadn’t used at that time). Luckily for me I finally recalled where (for safe keeping) I had put that tiny envelop of the six pearls and so was able to use four of them in this gazebo.
