Arum flowers and leaves

Arum flowers and leaves

Design called for the stems to be worked in wrapped wire, instead I did 13-20 wrapped bullions using straw needle. Waxing of needle and light waxing of 6-ply (un-separated) stranded floss makes it easier to pull through long bullions.

Two leaves are two dark green felt cut in shape of leaves.

Green thread used: Classic Colorworks, 100% cotton, un-separated 6-stranded floss, color Poblano Pepper.

Two flowers worked in 13 mm silk ribbon, color 122 (Touch of Pink) purchased from Di van Niekerk website.
Flower pistils: short lengths of Di van Niekerk, French Ribbon, color 08, Sunflower

Red Hot Poker

Red Hot Poker

Design called for the leaves to be wrapped wire. I again decided to do long (60-150 wrapped) bullions worked in 2, 4 and 6 strands of Di’s Chameleon stranded cotton thread color 54 (Moss).Loop petals of the flowers are worked bottom up using four colors of 4mm silk ribbons.
