Victoria Sampler Gingerbread Ornament
October of 2011, Marty Greiner taught members of EGA’s local chapter Oatlands the numerous stitches of this ornament. As a member, I purchased the kit which included 28 Count Dirty Linen Cashel—Cut fabric 8” x 8” (design size 3.85” x 3.85”), numerous threads (cotton and silks) and one thread that I quite enjoyed Glorianna silk #115 “Topiary” (multi gold, green, red, purple).
The Victoria Sampler website lists this design as Gingerbread Cookie Ornament and at this time it is a free offer on their website.
The VS website states: Free Pattern designed by Thea Dueck. This ornament is designed to accompany the Gingerbread Garden Sampler. Stitched on a Gingerbread coloured linen, using delectable silk flosses, beads, overdyed silks, sparkling gold metallics and multicoloured beads for candies, this yummy ornament will give you a good grounding in basic Hardanger … and Drawn Thread work. Design area: 54h x 54w (3.8"x 3.8") Model: 28ct Zweigart Dirty Linen Cashel (cut 8 " x 8 " for ornament or 10 " x 10 " for framing)
As I was matting and framing this worked piece I put bright red tissue paper behind the open work area.
