Rainbow color diamond doily with flowers
I had wondered what it would look like to combo strong colored floss with white hardanger style design.
I purchased this pre-edged fabric from Nordic Needle. This finished doily is produced by Ubelhor in Austria. The doily fabric is 26-count Antique White Etamin neatly trimmed with a 1 inch needle woven edging. The doily measures 15 inch square with a 13 inch area for stitching.
For the open work I went into my stash of designs and retrieved a Victoria Sampler Bumblebee Lace Sampler design to guide me in how I wanted the centered worked white hardanger stitching though I added several of my own ideas to that center area. I goofed up my count as I worked the VS design and while taking stitches out I ruined the fabric thread in one place (luckily just about in the middle section of a side area) so I switched over and placed two fabric covering satin bars and triangles.
The hardanger and pulled threads were worked using white pearl cotton size 8 and size 12, along with a single thread of Kreinik white metallic blending filament to add a light touch of sparkle to the pearl cotton thread.
The colorful floss is DMC. The two side flowers came from patterns that I downloaded from CrossStitchersClub.com.
