Fuchsia Flowers

Fuchsia Flowers

These Fuchsia flowers and buds are quite different from the suggested style shown within Di van Niekerk’s book for this floral panel. They are more like the ones that we have locally.

These Fuchsia flowers and buds are worked in organza ribbon that I purchased from http://www.dicraft.co.za. The organza ribbon is a lot stiffer than the silk ribbon so I couched the organza ribbon with a strand of floss to form the intended shape that I am working on. This couching keeps me from having to poke an enlarged hole through my fabric and the backing fabric in order to pull the organza ribbon through to the back.

I used three shades of organza (No 41 – Mixed Berry, No 60 – Dark Red and No 106 – Cosmos) all in 15mm width.

The silk ribbon for the stems is twisted and couched 4mm from my stash.
